Street Design Team

Services

Our unique approach is to form teams to solve problems such as safety or congestion in our communities, use data and surveys, and focus on identifying and implementing minimum viable solutions through short sprints.

Advisory

Community-Led Studies/Initiatives:

Our approach, which may seem radical yet is entirely logical, involves collaborating with community stakeholders such as neighborhood groups, health officials, government authorities, and real estate developers for street or neighborhood enhancements. We commence by clarifying aspirations and goals, then proceed to identify the essential incremental steps that will ultimately lead to achieving those objectives. Subsequently, we collaborate with the community to execute the intervention and assess its outcomes, which are then communicated back to the community.

Master Plans Review:

Whether at the community or city level, we provide studies on walking and cycling infrastructure to pinpoint opportunities for network improvements within projects, as well as identifying any missing connections to nearby destinations.

Infrastructure Audits:

Our services encompass a comprehensive evaluation of the design and functionality of walking and cycling infrastructure, including bike lanes, shared-use paths, and bike parking facilities. The audit aligns with international best practices, the Dubai Cycling and Pedestrian Facilities Manual, and the Transportation Integration Design Manual requirements.

The audit comprises both a design review and field assessments of the existing infrastructure. The primary objective is to identify strategies for enhancing the infrastructure’s safety and accessibility for users of all ages and abilities. The insights and recommendations derived from the audit serve as a guide for future infrastructure investments and the overall enhancement of community conditions.

Workshops & Master Classes

On a global scale, a shortage of urban designers and transportation professionals with expertise in crafting cycling or micro-mobility networks is evident. Numerous governments worldwide have urged organizations to develop training initiatives aimed at bridging this skill gap.

In response, we are collaborating with international experts to develop localized and pertinent training programs tailored for professionals within our region.

Awareness and speaking

Our Founder, Deema Aburizik, is a known speaker in urbanism, and human-centric cities, as well as walking and cycling mobility. She engages the audience in evidence-based best practices and real examples from her work in the region.

As part of our goal to engage with the wider community and avoid getting stuck in our own bubble of like-minded urbanists, we are extending our outreach and speaking work to general events such as real estate, transportation, facility management, and education conferences.

The objective is to raise awareness about the role of each member of the community, in promoting and shifting to active travel.
